This February we want to introduce you to some of the #blackmakers that help make the Forge what it is.
We are so excited to share Darryl's story with you.
Darryl Brooks has been a Forge member since 2020, and other members and staff gravitated towards his warm, kind personality and seemingly boundless curiosity. We offered him a spot as a Shop Mentor in our 3D Printing Lab and now Darryl gets to share that curiosity with others every week!
We asked Darryl a few questions:
F: What are you working on right now?
D: "Currently, I'm learning the skills of a craftsman. Modeling for 3D printing and laser etching and engraving seems to be my strongest area of expertise, so far."
F: What drew you to mentoring and leading/teaching others?
D:"I enjoyed leading and teaching others while serving in the military and decided to give the Forge mentoring a shot." (Darryl is a US Navy veteran!)
F: Do you have a moment from mentoring at the Forge that you think of fondly?
D: "I think fondly of some of the talented people I've met at the Forge. I was especially fond of a 12 year old boy who was excited to share the 3D printed hound dog he made."
The Forge is so lucky to have Darryl as part of our team as a 3D Printing Mentor!
