This February we want to introduce you to some of the #blackmakers that help make the Forge what it is. We are so excited to share Brianna's story with you!
Brianna is a bundle of positive vibes and encouragement who has sparked awesome community engagement with her magnetic personality. Everyone wants to make pottery with Brianna!!!
We asked Brianna a few questions:
Forge: How did you find the Forge?
Brianna: My friend told me about the Forge when I was talking to him about really needing a space to continue my ceramics learning.
F: Tell us about your history as a maker. What is your process?
B: I entered 2020 battling depression so I needed an outlet; something that I could put my energy into, see and feel the results. Wheel throwing was the perfect choice. I began my study at Sawtooth in Winston in January of 2020 and I haven’t stopped. My current process is rooted in discovery and play. I just want to make things that give me joy.
F: Tell us a fun fact or story about you! Are you a veteran? Are you a bungee jumping enthusiast? Do you have the world's largest collection of cookie jars?
B: I have been pooped on by a bird 3 different times in 3 different countries. 1) In Cape Coast, Ghana 2) in Atlanta, Georgia USA 3) Medellin, Colombia
F: What is your favorite thing about the Forge Community?
B: The support from the community and the knowledge base. There are so many people that have expertise in various fields. They all bring that to the Forge table, ready and willing to share. It’s amazing!
F: If you have a memory at the Forge you think of fondly, or makes you laugh, please feel free to share!
B: We have had a couple “get-togethers” in the ceramics department and they have been awesome! We laugh, eat, get to know each other better, and learn together!
The Forge is lucky to have Brianna as part of its community!
