Let’s play a game! Put up a high five. For every descriptor put a finger down. Do you know someone Cuban? Do you know an entrepreneur? A mother? A person that speaks 6 languages? Well if you take the time to meet the amazing Kate Coe, founder of Spruce Things Up, you can put all your fingers down. Kate is a talented woodworker and general handywoman. If it’s broken Kate can likely fix it for you.
Kate posted some of her work on Nextdoor and thus her business was born. Suddenly there was an overwhelming amount of support and requests flooding her profile. Spruce Things Up offers: furniture refinishing, custom builds, and home decor and as a new business they already have a waitlist extending through the holiday season! Kate says that getting to know her customers and being able to give them above and beyond what they asked for with the little details in her design is always her goal.
As a mother and owner of a fast-growing company Kate Coe not only does the amazing work herself but also takes the time to authentically be a representation for her children and the community at large. Kate experiences Lupus and it has presented its physical limitations. She has time and time again proven that we can listen to our bodies and be successful. We can take the time we need and still use our amazing talents. Kate consistently advises new makers to “just try, try it all!” You will certainly find something that sparks you— especially at the Forge. You may have played the game at the beginning but make sure to meet Kate Coe and check all the awesome boxes that you can. Ask her what she’s up to!
