CNC Router Basic Training class
Overview
1. Download VCarve
2. Install it
3. Enter the Makerspace ID
Download VCarve
In order to work with our Makerspace Master Version, you must download an older version of VCarve 11 Pro Trial. Download the installer.
Installation
When the download completes, run the file to install VCarve. No special information is needed in this step. Just press Next a few times until it installs. It will ask you if you want to run VCarve when it completes. You should do that.
Entering the Makerspace ID
When you first launch the software, it will immediately ask you to create an online account and download a machine profile. You do not need to do this. Both of these things are optional. You don't need an account, and there's little reason to download the machine profile for the ShopBot because your trial version will be unable to use them. The final step of saving a toolpath file to use on the ShopBot must be performed using the "Makerspace Master Version" of VCarve at Forge Greensboro.
The one step you must perform is entering our Makerspace ID. This registers the trial version as a makerspace client version which you can use indefinitely. If you do not enter the Makerspace ID, then the files you create on your computer won't open on the Forge PCs. It's is a simple process that only takes a minute.
1. Open VCarve. If it asks you to setup an account or a machine, you can skip these steps.
2. Once you can access the main menu of the software, select "Help > About VCarve" which will open the About Window.
3. In the About Window, click the button to enter a Makerspace ID.
4. Enter 34E3E-D29C8-33155-A0040-92716-E3B25-936F0 (you can copy and paste this)
5. Click OK and close the About window.
6. You will have to restart VCarve before you create any files.
That's it. You are ready to use VCarve.
