JOB DESCRIPTION for COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INTERN
Community Engagement Intern reports to the Programs Coordinator and has two main functions: assisting current & potential members; and engaging & building connections with the community of Greensboro at large. The Community Engagement Intern will work directly with administrative staff as well as Shop leads, volunteers, and members. The Programs Coordinator and the Executive Director will set goals and metrics to allow assessment and feedback on a routine basis. This internship is ideal for, but not limited to, those studying communications, arts administration, non-profit management, or in a maker-related field. This internship pays $12 per hour at 20 hours per week. Intern will be working on site at the Forge.
Responsibilities Include:
Member Community Engagement
- Coordinate growth of membership. Facilitate information/orientation sessions and facility tours.
- Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day member and facility needs.
- Work with Programs Coordinator to maintain updated program and event information on website, flyers, e-blasts, calendars, and other media; manage calendar of recruitment outreach once established.
- Respond to information requests from prospective members and program candidates.
- Address Member issues or concerns and coordinate resolution of issues with the Executive Director and Board of Directors as necessary.
Greensboro Community Engagement
- Seek out & plan to participate in community functions with the goal of finding new members.
- Participation would include (but is not limited to) tabling at First Friday events, job fairs, community markets, school events
- Work in tandem with the Programs Coordinator as on-site host for special program events, including fundraisers, orientations, meetups, and graduations.
Administrative support and other duties as assigned. Across all areas, be an ambassador for the Forge.

A driven and engaged candidate with proven results will be considered for a full-time position at the end of their internship if they are interested in continuing to grow this role. Interns receive membership to the Forge during their internship and for the 3 months immediately following the end of the internship.
